Affiliate marketing forums are websites where people with a common interest post information, ask and answer questions, and share tips with others.

What Kind of Information Can I Find There?

Affiliate Marketing QuestionsIt varies slightly from forum to forum, but most affiliate marketing forums offer a section for FAQ’s (frequently asked questions), news about the latest affiliate programs, and the ability for a member to post a question and have other members answer it.

Many also have a page devoted to legal and tax issues and one for people new to affiliate marketing (a good starting point for Baby Boomers who may be unfamiliar with some of the terms).

They usually include at a minimum a blog from the forum’s moderator, and may offer members the ability to post their own blogs. Most sites also offer a glossary and links to other sites that might be of assistance, such as website hosting or programming services.

Does it Matter which Forum I Join?

Year Of The AffiliateYes, an affiliate marketing forum should be selected that will be most beneficial to you.  Some forums are primarily (or entirely) composed of members who are affiliates of a specific program. Others represent almost every affiliate program available. You should also choose a forum that has the features you will use the most, such as a chat room or a page to announce new affiliate programs.

What is the Cost of Joining a Forum?

Affiliate marketing forums, and forums in general, are usually free to join.  Forums, however, do require you to register and create a screen name, which will be the only identification that will be posted about you.  Some affiliate marketing forums forbid you to post any personal information, such as your real name, email address, website address, and so on.)

The forums where there is a cost to join are more like membership sites and will generally provide a lot more services. Such sites may have information on how to setup your site, what settings to use and even answer technical questions. Usually there is a lot of support from the moderators although this does vary. It’s up to you to do your homework.

Why Should I Join an Affiliate Marketing Forum?

Affiliates helping AffiliatesThe first reason to join affiliate marketing forums is that they allow you to tap the knowledge base of more experienced affiliates. Especially, when first starting out, you may have lots of questions. The answers may already be online in the forum’s FAQ section, and if not, you can post the question and receive input from other members.

The second reason to join is that, if you plan to grow your business and maintain a steady income stream, you will need to keep abreast of changes. New programs become available that might work well with your existing one. Or established programs may begin to show signs of trouble; you might believe an issue applies only to you, but if two hundred people are experiencing the same issue, you will know that something is truly wrong.

And finally, forums are your best source for information on regional meetings or conventions.

Should I Join More Than One Forum?

Good affiliate marketing forums will provide virtually everything you need, but since no one site can be all things to all people, you might want to consider joining more than one.

Affiliate MarketingA major site, with hundreds of thousands of members, should be one of your choices because of the huge number of people who can share information or answer questions. But a small site that focuses on your major income stream can also be beneficial.

Since affiliate marketing forums are usually free and take your time only when you choose, there is no reason for not choosing more than one.

  1. It never ceases to amaze me when I use affiliate forums (which I do a lot) that the majority of users miss a great opportunity to grab a really good backlink to their site. It’s so simple to add a url with a perfect anchor to your signature file – but for some reason it seems to be overlooked.

Hi Gee, I think I’d have to agree with both of you.. YOTA certainly sets a high benchmark in service, knowledge, community, original material, and especially, honesty and integrity.. if another organisation can match it I’d be happy to know about it.

    Hi Gee

That’s really hand info. There must be a few around, but I have to say, I’m not fully aware of them all myself. I’m a huge fan of the YOTA forum. Great resources, great community and fantastic moderators. Highly recommended if anyone’s looking for an affiliate marketing forum to join.
